A new and simpler system for toll passages on the mountain roads has been introduced – benefiting both users and the management of the road network. Pihl will now operate the toll system for the entire road network – including the winter operation of the toll booth at Storåsen. This makes it easier for all users and provides a single, comprehensive solution throughout the year.
Simplified Toll System

In addition to existing toll booths, a new facility with license plate recognition was established after Aksjøen in November 2025, for entry towards Åstdalen.
For entry to Storåsen and Elgåsen, half the rate is paid. For further entry after Aksjøen, a new half rate is paid, so that the total paid corresponds to the rate for the entire road network.
Value Card
The subscription offered is a discounted value card. This is a further development of the clip cards, but based on a balance. The amount for entry will be deducted directly from your subscription balance upon passage. You can add up to 10 vehicles to the subscription.

Existing Subscriptions
- Active clip cards linked to Pihl AS can be used until they are empty, but cannot be renewed. 1 clip per passage in all toll booths for passenger cars. Due to the technical setup, 1 clip will also be deducted at the Aksjøen toll booth from the old clip cards. Please note that vehicles over 3.5 tons and over 7.5 tons will be charged 2 and 3 clips per passage respectively to match the overall pricing for this vehicle group.
- The arrangement with a separate subscription for Storåsen-Aksjøen during the winter season will be discontinued. Existing clips on winter subscriptions will be refunded by Storåsen AS.
- With a value card, passage at Storåsen, Elgåsen, and Aksjøen will cost NOK 48 from 06.01.2026. For remaining toll booths, NOK. 96.
- If a value card is purchased before an existing clip card is fully used, the clips will be charged first.
Determination of Toll Fee
The price for passages has remained unchanged for two years and has now been adjusted according to the index for road operation and maintenance. Documented road costs form the basis for determining the toll fee, and the rate was municipally approved on 28.10.2022.
With the new value card, users are charged for actual use, ensuring that everyone contributes fairly to covering the costs of operating the road network.
From 2026, a toll fee will also be introduced for motorcycles.
