Pihl AS has an ambition to remove boat wrecks from the mountain lakes in our area. The project will be launched in the summer of 2025 in collaboration with Handelens Miljøfond.
Old boat wrecks are a persistent source of microplastic pollution, and we are dedicated to protecting our vulnerable freshwater environments. We are working toward a zero-waste vision for plastic in the mountains.
The mountain lakes have been an important resource for rights holders for a long time, and remain an important resource today. Boats have been—and still are—an essential tool for utilizing the fishing resources in most of the mountain lakes. Over time, this has resulted in many, and sometimes unmanageable, boat storage areas.
Through mapping, we will ensure that boat wrecks are collected and delivered to approved receiving facilities.
We encourage all boat owners to check their boat during the summer season.
Damaged boats will be prepared and marked during the summer with information indicating they are registered for removal in 2026. The same applies to boats that are not registered in our boat registry. Unmarked boats must be registered via the boat registration form.
Boats for Shared Use
Pihl and Ringsaker jakt- og fiskeområde will purchase boats that can be used by everyone. These will be placed at some of the largest lakes and can easily be booked via inatur. The first boat is ready for rental at Kroksjøen.
We look forward to getting started with the work of clearing as much as possible along the mountain lakes, and we hope this will be a good contribution to reducing plastic waste in the mountain area.
Boat Registration
Boats at the mountain lakes must be approved and registered by Pihl.
The boat must have an identification mark applied by the boat owner. For cottage owners, the mark consists of the first letter of the cottage area and the cottage number. If you do not have a cottage, the boat is marked with a number provided by Pihl.
- Boats without identification marks will be removed.
- Please be considerate of those who already have a boat spot. Do not place boats closer together than necessary for both you and your neighbor to handle your boats comfortably.
- The boat owner is responsible for keeping the boat area tidy and for removing boat wrecks.
- In case of unsuitable placement, you may be required to move the boat to a designated spot.
- Transport of boats to roadless lakes must be arranged with the landowner.
- Boats are not permitted on new, dammed lakes.
- The landowner has no responsibility for the boat.
