In collaboration with the residents’ association, thinning is planned from Nordsetervegen up to Storåsen over a period of 3-4 years. Information is sent out annually to affected cabin owners.
Thinning at Sjusjøen has been carried out previously, and due to overgrowth and new growth, the matter is naturally being addressed again. In 2026, thinning will take place from the center northward toward Storåsen. All cabin owners within the area will be notified in advance, both by email and letter.
Principles for logging and implementation are generally followed as follows:
- All affected cabin owners are notified in advance and given the opportunity to influence which trees are removed.
Trees you wish to keep near your cabin should be marked with red marking tape by August 18, 2026. Final selection by the logging crew. If you do not have clearly visible marking tape yourself, it can be picked up from the mailbox outside the Pihl building. - In principle, old, damaged, and destroyed trees are removed, as well as trees that obstruct maintenance/snow clearing. Younger and finer trees are left standing. Thinning is done without clear-cutting.
- Start approximately August 18, 2026. Logging will continue for approximately 2 months.
Logging is carried out in the fall each year. Special weather conditions with, for example, heavy precipitation may result in planned logging being postponed. - Jon Evensen is responsible for felling/logging. Hauling with tractor-timber trailer by Martin Håkenstad. Track damage in the terrain will occur, the worst of it will be repaired afterward. Trees are hauled out with branches. Some branches may be left behind.
Piles of whole trees will remain along the road network for approximately 1 year. They will then be chipped on site, removed, and the area will be cleared. These piles are not collection points for other wood materials. - Hauling equipment cannot move inside fences, logging inside fences only by agreement with Jon Evensen.
Freehold Properties
Freehold properties are offered logging in the same way as leasehold properties, but no logging is done on freehold property unless we are notified. The cabin owner must contact Jon Evensen directly to arrange logging.
While thinning is taking place, large trees near your cabin should be considered for removal.
Forest management is invoiced over the next three years
Some of the operating costs are covered by income from pulpwood and logging waste. The deficit beyond this is distributed among all cabin owners in an area over a period of 3 years with interest calculation. This is done in consultation with the agreement between the landowners and the residents’ associations.
This entails a cost of NOK 625 per cabin for 3 years. The amount is invoiced together with regular user fees. For cabin owners who are members of Sjusjøen Vel, the residents’ association will subsidize the logging with NOK 100 per year.
